Decision Making in a Crisis

Jocko Willink, retired US Navy Seal and best-selling author, advises the following to handle a crisis:

  1. Relax. Take a breath. Detach. Don’t get emotional. There is hope.
  2. Look around. Find the biggest problem.
  3. Solve it or, at least, make the smallest decision needed to move in the right direction and act before worrying about other problems.

Also, once you make a small decision and start implementing it, you’ll see if you were right and are going in the right direction or whether you’ll need to change course. But doing nothing is not usually the answer so choose something small and act.
